this is a repair for the range rover L322 reverse camera.
this part was pulled by the customer and the problem was immediately apparent. the connector for the wire harness had broken loose from the motherboard and the camera was no longer working. personally i think this is a design flaw, and if it has been a problem for many range rovers and hasn’t been addressed to correct the problem, then maybe it’s intentional. if someone has some additional information about this problem that you can add to this post, that would be welcomed.
first thing to do is pull the connector and make sure the pads are still intact.
they look very nice, i think i should use the existing hardware and reconnect everything. the only identifying information for the part was located on the rear – 152141 REV002 AT&S FO M 94V-0 1206 – not sure what any of that means, but i bet a couple of you will land here by looking up that number.
we made quick work of the repair – charged the customer my minimum iron fee and left it to him to reinstall the now functioning camera. below are some close up shots of the very well soldered pins to their respective pads. not shown but, i also added some resin reinforcement to help avoid this problem reoccurring. this repair should be better than a new replacement part unless they have redesigned the part (which i highly doubt). one (1) of the reasons that this [may] have occurred would be the type of solder that is used these days. solder used today is more brittle as lead is not highly used anymore. and the vibration of the car could have cause the solder to crack away. i like to use leaded solder and i wick away the old solder and reapply a new fresh flow of leaded solder to the pins and pads and reattach them.
below is a video of someone doing their own repair. if you can remove the part, but need someone to help resolder the broken connection, you can contact me here, fill out a help ticket and we can start the repair process.
